Józef Chełmoński — a prominent painter and illustrator, one of the leading representatives of Polish realism. Although criticised in his homeland, he earned the recognition he deserved in Paris, where he showcased his paintings depicting the everyday life of the Polish countryside and dynamic representations of galloping horse carts. The album, with a foreword by an eminent art critic, Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska, contains over 60 illustrations, including reproductions of the artist’s most important works, such as: “Indian Summer” (1875), “Before the Inn” (1877) or “Four in Hand” (1881).
