Teodor Axentowicz (1859–1938) – painter, graphic designer, and draughtsman, professor and the first elected rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Born to a noble Polish Armenian family, who settled in Lviv when he was three. He started his artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and then continued it in Paris under the supervision of Carolus-Duran. Following a series of art trips around Europe, he arrived in Kraków in 1895. As a painter, he became particularly famous for portraits inspired by national folklore. The album, with the introduction by Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska, PhD, presents the artist’s most prominent works.
