Wojciech Kossak — son of Juliusz Kossak; a painter, illustrator and the main representative of history painting. He studied at the Kraków School of Fine Arts and the Munich academy; later, he mastered his craft in Paris. His works are imbued with patriotism expressed in paintings presenting Polish freedom fighters and important figures of Polish history, e.g. “Kościuszko on Horseback” (1893) or “Marshall Józef Piłsudski on Kasztanka” (1928). Recognised and presented with numerous awards, he showcased his works at exhibitions in Poland and abroad. The album, with a foreword by Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska, is a review of the artist’s most significant works.
