Czapski. Painting
Józef Czapski (1896–1993) – writer, columnist, art critic, painter, and draughtsman, co-founder of the Parisian monthly “Kultura”, an icon of the Polish intelligentsia in exile. At first, he filled his paintings with colour, following the aesthetics of the Kapists; then – intrigued by expressionism and branded with war experiences – he turned his focus to the tragedy of individuals functioning in dull reality.

The artist also made a name for himself by the use of framing in his paintings and deforming the figures in them. The mini-album contains such well-known works as Train de banlieue (Suburban Train) and Pologne (Poland).
