Edward Dwurnik (1943–2018) is one of the most famous Polish painters. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, presented with multiple awards and distinctions, laureate of e.g. the Solidarity Independent Culture Committee Award (1983) and the Contemporary Art Foundation Award (1992). He created mostly complex painting series characterised by grotesque and drawing-like expression. His most famous pieces include e.g. Hitchhiking Trips (1966) – bird-view landscapes, Warsaw (1981) – referring to the martial law, and The Way to the East (1989–1991), in which the artist paid tribute to the victims to Communist persecutions by Soviet authorities. This minialbum features the artist’s most popular works.
