Tadeusz Makowski (1882–1932), presented in another album in the popular Painting series, lived and painted mainly in France, where he travelled after graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1908) and where he stayed for the rest of his life. Initially, he focused on symbolic landscape painting, whereas later his works revealed an increasingly significant influence of cubism, which then gave way to the characteristic traits of impressionism. The leitmotif of Makowski’s paintings were often children, who were presented in the majority of the artist’s works. The most famous pieces include, e.g. “Children’s Band” (1922), “Masquerade” (1928) and “Three Children Under a Signpost” (1930).
