Jacek Malczewski is considered one of the greatest painters in the history of Polish art whose works have gained great appreciation also with the public and art scholars abroad. His art is regarded as a core of modernist movement in Poland, while being presented at the same time at exhibitions representative of European art of the turn of the century. The works featured in this album – over 50 oil paintings, watercolours, and drawings - allow us to trace the subsequent stages in the artistic development of this most eminent representative of symbolism in Polish painting. With the foreword written by Dorota Suchocka, a former curator (now retired) of the Gallery of Polish Art at the Poznań National Museum.
