Antoni Piotrowski was not only a talented painter, but also a draughtsman, illustrator, poet, and fable writer. One of the co-founders of the Society of Polish Artists “Sztuka”, illustrated over a thousand books, including Henryk Sienkiewicz’s canonical “With Fire and Sword”. Created an astounding number of paintings – almost three and a half thousand. Together with other artists, he painted panoramas, e.g. “Tatra Panorama”. He worked as on-the-scene illustrator during the Serbo-Bulgarian War. In Bulgaria, which he visited frequently, he became very popular as portraitist of Prince Ferdinand and wealthy Bulgarians.
