This mini-album in the popular “Painting” series presents the artistic oeuvre of Roman Kochanowski (1857–1945) – a painter and draughtsman, one of the most acclaimed Polish landscape authors. Kochanowski studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Kraków and Vienna, and was trained by Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Henryk Grabiański. Involved with the Munich artistic circles and inspired by “Stimmung”, he developed a unique formula of romantic painting of realistic provenance. His landscapes, painted mostly in the regions of Małopolska and Wielkopolska, present peasant farmsteads, lush groves, and vast wildernesses and are characterised by simplicity and lyricism. The mini-album, with the introduction by Aleksandra Krypczyk-De Barra, presents almost sixty exquisite landscapes.
