This volume of the “Painting” series is devoted to the life and art of Małgorzata Łada-Maciągowa (1881–1969) – a painter and stained-glass designer, one of the most outstanding female artists of the Young Poland period. Łada learned to draw and paint at the Adrian Baraniecki Higher Courses for Women in Kraków and at the Académie Julian in Paris. She focused mainly on pastel painting, creating portraits, nudes, and landscapes with a distinctly soft line. Particularly noteworthy are the nudes with a deep psychological insight into the models, as well as the interiors of Kraków churches and the Planty Park presented at various times of day. The mini-album, with the introduction by Agnieszka Pasztor, presents almost sixty paintings by Łada from the collection of the Mieczysław Asłanowicz Regional Museum in Siedlce, e.g.: “Hendaye Beach” (1925), “Kopernik at the Wawel Castle”(1937), and “Katyn Symbolic Composition” (1967).
