In times of overabundance of food prepared by professional chefs, once or twice a year… we want to cook ourselves. This book is for those who cannot cook but who would like to show off on a festive occasion but also for those who cook very well but would like to remind themselves what and how, in which order and most important – in which proportions they should add, throw, pour and mix. The recipes of Gaga Barecka – whom I know personally and so I know what I’m saying – are exactly the same as she is. They combine two seemingly incompatible aspects: they are artistically light and modern while being precise, straightforward and traditional at the same time. Her homemade cooking delights but doesn’t intimidate. Dumplings have fingerprints and not an Italian ravioli machine marks on them. What we can see on the plate is certainly cooked at home and looking at the photographs everyone, even a not very brave cook, can imagine the dish on their own table.
