Michałowski. Drawing is another book in the series on Polish drawing art. Piotr Michałowski (1800 –1855), the most recognised representative of Romanticism in Polish art, became famous primarily as a painter of battle scenes and equestrian images. An important part of the artist's work were drawings made in pencil and pen, sometimes also partially painted with watercolours, with which he filled sketchbooks and sheets of paper. The themes of these, like in the case of oil paintings, were battle scenes, military parades, horse-drawn carriages, male and female riders, as well as portrait sketches and physiognomic studies. This mini-album, with a foreword by the art historian and expert on Michałowski’s art, Anna Zeńczak, contains approximately 60 of his most interesting drawings.
