„Motherland is the land and the graves”, and „nations by losing memory, are losing life", and the memory of nations is preserved in the stone cities of their dead – the necropoleis, which record our past. This unique album with photographs by outstanding Polish photographer Adam Bujak offers the Reader a one-of-the-kind nostalgic tour of the four most significant Polish necropoleis - the Powązki cemetery in Warsaw, Rakowicki cemetery in Cracow, Lyczakow cemetery in Lviv and Rossa necropolis in Vilnius, the latter two no longer remaining within the Polish borders. Beautiful funereal sculptures, tombs of famous Poles, and melancholy cemetery lanes have been depicted at different seasons of the year.. The historical introduction has been written by the authority on the subject, Professor Jacek Kolbuszewski.
