God’s blundersis a collection of over 50 poems by a famous Polish lyricist, librettist and poet Jacek Cygan. The afterword has been written by Tadeusz Nyczek, renowned literary, theatre and art critic.
As the poet himself says, “I could just as well call these poems ‘ traveller’s poems’. Not because they were inspired by an actual journey, one which required packing of an actual suitcase. Some of them were inspired by a journey “into myself”, performed with eyes closed, a journey which never happened in the real world. Others have been inspired by paintings, literature, and that also includes poems by other writers; there are also poems I wrote following a nostalgic journey into the past, into the memory of people who are no longer here. So you might say that almost all of these pieces were, in a sense, created in motion. In some cases that journey required traversing thousands of miles; in others, an almost imperceptible gesture, like turning a page in this book, was enough for a poem to come into being.”
