The same way, no viewer could ever remain indifferent to Hanuszkiewicz’s controversial stagings of Polish plays  traditionally regarded as „national sanctities”; these productions inevitably invited scalding and derisive reviews by conservative critics who accused him of direspecting and tarnishing Polish national values. He left the critics squabbling and barking under the table and continued his work regardless: His last production was of „The Wedding” ( „Wesele”, by Stanisław Wyspiański) and it attracted a crowd of 2000 viewers – actively participating in the modernist play - in a tavern near Poznań. He is in Heaven now, without doubt doing His own thing again - for all eternity.
