The Stilo Lighthouse and Other Legends of Pomerania is a collection of the most fascinating legends from the regions of Northern Poland, edited by the laureate of the literary competition “Legends of the Blue Land”, Magdalena Kubiak. With a very interesting style, the story mentions actual places, the origin of sites and natural monuments in the neighbourhood. It explains why there are storms on the Baltic Sea, how the Łebsko Lake came to be, and discovers many mysterious tales. The unusual character of the legends is emphasised by the fantastic elements, such as the Kashubian devil, the submarine bear, strange figures and spectres. All of the stories are based on the history and traditions of Northern Poland and refer to events from many ages ago. The book takes the reader to the ancient world of beliefs and customs, which will be appealing not only to adults, but also teenagers and older children.
