Halina Poświatowska is – next to Wisława Szymborska – the best known and most widely read Polish woman poet. Poświatowska in memoirs and inspirations is a unique book dedicated to her – to “Haśka” - as the poet, who died prematurely of a heart condition, was known to her friends and family. It is a joint effort of some truly unusual authors: the poet’s own brother Zbigniew Myga and her niece Kalina Słomska, but also numerous personalities from the world of literature, art, theatre and music including Ernest Bryll, Adam Zagajewski, Anna Maria Jopek, „Muniek” Staszczyk, Hanna Banaszak, Rafał Olbiński, Gabriela Kurylewicz, Teresa Lipowska, Stanisław Sojka, Ewa Lipska, Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, Piotr Machalica, and many others.
Colourful, vibrant and abounding in kind humour, but most of all a treasury of precious detail from the life of the poet – their stories, poems and personal memoirs let Halina Poświatowska make her sublime presence felt once again.
