After “Paderewski” and “Mościcki”, “Piłsudski” is another volume devoted to eminent politicians of the Second Polish Republic. Józef Piłsudski is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished people in Polish history and culture. Already in the late 19th century, as a young conspirator, he successfully advocated the fight with the occupant for the Polish and working-class cause. Concerned about the fate of his country, he led riflemen and legionaries to battles with the Russian army. The victorious battle of Warsaw in August 1920 only strengthened Piłsudski’s status, also internationally. He was not only an outstanding strategist and statesman, but also a highly charismatic individual. No other politician of that time enjoyed such respect, trust and popularity. The richly illustrated album, with an introduction by a well-known historian and essayist, Prof. Andrzej Chwalba, contains nearly two hundred photographs presenting Piłsudski’s political activity and personal life.
