The seventeenth mini-album in the series on famous Polish poster artists presents the works by Sławomir Iwański, an artist involved with the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and the Łódź Film School. His minimalist works are characterised by unusual typographical layouts and intense colours. Inspired by Władysław Strzemiński’s achievements, who promoted the so-called thinking with the eyes, Iwański composes the letters and words on his posters so that they make certain shapes — a good example of this technique is the poster “Hommage à John Lennon”, where the letters make up John Lennon Glasses. The artist’s pieces have been exhibited in Poland and internationally, he has won multiple awards, e.g. at the Katowice and Rzeszów Polish Poster Biennale (1997, 2005). The introduction and selection of works in the book was prepared by Zdzisław Schubert.
