Title of the week

The album features the works of Edward Dwurnik (1943–2018), one of the most famous Polish painters. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, presented with multiple awards and distinctions, laureate of, among others, the Solidarity Independent Culture Committee Award (1983) and the Contemporary Art Foundation Award (1992). 

The album is dedicated to the art of one of the most recognisable contemporary Polish artists – Jerzy Duda-Gracz. In his works, the artist often commented on the social and political reality, balancing between grotesque, irony, and satire on the one hand, and sentimentalism and nostalgia on the other. He is famous for painting series, of which the most recognisable are Motifs, Polish Portraits, and Jurassic Paintings.

 Volume three of The Book of World Dragons by Bartłomiej Grzegorz Sala this time features dragons and serpent-like beasts from tales and legends from non-European cultures. In his new book, the author, a historian and ethnologist, introduces draconic creatures from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab world, Muslim India and Persia, as well as Tibet and South-East Asia.

The book was created on the occasion of one of the exhibitions of photographs by the most famous Polish sports photographer, Leszek Fidusiewicz, and his friends who were invited to contribute. It features iconic photographs and their artistic interpretation by his friends artists.

Part two of the album presenting nudes by Rafal Olbinski – one of the most recognisable contemporary surrealist artists, multiple-award winner, teacher in the School of Visual Arts in New York City. 

The book in the “Painting” mini-series presents the works of Kazimierz Sichulski (1879–1942) – a painter, draughtsman, caricaturist, graphic designer, one of the most outstanding Polish artists inspired by the Hutsul culture. Sichulski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Leon Wyczółkowski, Józef Mehoffer, and Stanisław Wyspiański, and was also educated in Vienna and Paris.

Henryk Musiałowicz – a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and multiple-award winner took part in around 250 exhibitions in Poland and abroad. 

Eugène Delacroix is the epitome of romantic painting. He created paintings commenting on the key contemporary political and religious events and showing historical scenes, of which the most famous one is “Liberty Leading the People” with the personification of Marianne, one of the French national symbols.

This mini-album in the popular “Painting” series presents the artistic oeuvre of Roman Kochanowski (1857–1945) – a painter and draughtsman, one of the most acclaimed Polish landscape authors. Kochanowski studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Kraków and Vienna, and was trained by Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Henryk Grabiański.
